cleaning

Caught in the wire of untimed phases
repeating. Loudly at soundproofed doors
unwanted guests rapping knuckles bare and bloody
wait in desperate hope that the deaf will pick up vibrations.

A charade of annual fragments having no volume
in set start or finish, no pinpointing
without completion born in fleeting desire

reaching to a liar. Dressed in ragged cover
salvation sought loses itself,
slipping from the overall hold. Stitches come undone
patches separate and fall

to dusty corners. Clothes thrown
hide carelessly spilled ashtrays, empty
containers and bits of truth on scraps of paper.

Self created prosthetic limbs of tatterdemalions
diseased with crumbling
paste, failing thread and crackling
tape finally lets go.

Now like yesterday,
experimentation in new amnesia
that will bring a better tomorrow.

kingdom come, kingdom go

bothersome insecurities stand around hollering
an attack from front line positions of rank hatred
with words lashing forward that soar like arrows
creating momentary ways for a squadron of awful
image wielding memoir monsters personified to kill

frightened protectors of the mental monarch scurry
away from a still occupied dais being toppled
by the oppressed in uprise, men usurped of power
seeing the guilt of hasty rulings rise like oceans
send bullets to the brain of post-rulership's zombie

Eric Harrison is a chain smoker who likes to fish and who takes his artwork very seriously. He strives to capture his vision by choosing the right media to express each thought or perception. The bulk of his creative work is that of a moody musician, painter, illustrator and poet. Much of what he does represents misanthropic depression and the darker, uglier aspects of the human psyche as well as the delusions that preoccupy his excessively paranoid mind. Some of his music, song lyrics and visual arts appear on CD's produced by his own and several other underground bands. Many of which have been sold and distributed worldwide. His most recent written work appears in The Rockzillaworld Americana Poetry Cosortium and the Third Lung Review Issue #32. When he isn't "being an artist" (and quite often when he is) Eric spends time alone or with his dog and is usually found brooding over paranoid theories or wandering the woods and salt marsh near his home in Lynn, Ma.
